Speaking engagements
Numerous speaking engagements including:
- Two hour public rainwater seminars on behalf of Catchment Boards and Councils. The seminars focused on the practical aspects of designing, installing and managing rainwater systems, as well as water saving tips.
- Climate Change Choices - entertaining seminars providing practical and cost effective ideas for reducing water and energy use and making more climate friendly lifestyle choices.
- Water management guest speaker for the Food Forest.
- Making Existing Buildings Work - Commercial Building Retrofit Case Studies for the Green Building and Design Conference 2008.
- Energy Saving Forum: City of Norwood, Payneham & St Peters.
- Sustainable Communities - highlighting the principles behind sustainable communities, from energy, water, food, waste and transport to community and social interaction.
Work Green website
An interactive website designed to help organisations promote sustainable practices at work and home. Designed to be tailored for individual worksites. Developed in partnership with Lavaworks and WWDaD. www.workgreen.com.au
Growing New Skills professional development series
Project management of a workshop series for people working in and with schools in natural resources management and environmental education/action projects.
Wetlands best practice guidelines
Preparation of guidelines and fact sheets to guide wetland managers and contractors with implementing on-ground works in wetlands in the SA River Murray wetlands.
Water management pilot project
Community engagement pilot project for the Northern Adelaide and Barossa Catchment Management Board in collaboration with social services organisations. The project included the development and facilitation of interactive workshops with community groups.
Home Assist training
Training of Home Assist staff to implement home energy efficiency improvements within the community for the Northern Adelaide Region Cities for Climate Protection Councils.
Energy Friends training
Training for Henley and Grange Residents Association members on home energy auditing. Participants have undertaken audits within the community.
Community-based behaviour change programs
Review of community-based behaviour change programs in the urban areas of the Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board's region. The review was designed to provide a snapshot of such programs, to identify gaps and to provide recommendations for the Board's role in this arena.
Future directions of pollution avoidance programs
Development of options, including recommended models, for the future delivery of sustainability business programs supported by the Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges NRM Board. In partnership with Paul Laris & Associates.
Water Conservation Handbook for Local Government
Development of the Water Conservation Handbook for Local Government with the Water Conservation Partnership Project. This extensive handbook includes fact sheets on water efficiency, rainwater and greywater as well as a home self audit worksheet and manual which has been used by SA Water and Catchment Water Management Boards.
Future directions of sustainability/NRM education in schools
Evaluation of a curriculum development model being trialed in two schools by the Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges Natural Resources Management Board. Preparation of a report identifying best practice in schools-based sustainability/NRM education and providing recommendations for future delivery. This project was undertaken in partnership with Paul Laris & Associates.
Oven efficiency workbook
Preparation of an electronic workbook that will assist plant bakery engineers to determine and improve oven efficiency.
Electric motor systems case studies
Preparation of three case studies for Energy Efficiency Best Practice. The case studies explore the causes of energy wastage in electric motors and industrial processes.
