Daniel Handley

Daniel is based in Kuranda, near Cairns, providing services to the Far North Queensland region. He has extensive experience in research, predominantly in the field of mechatronics (the integration of mechanical and electrical systems). His area of focus is life-cycle analysis, whole-system design and eco-design. He is currently an adjunct lecturer in Sustainable Engineering at The University of Adelaide and James Cook University. Daniel is also a founding Director of Trust Nature FNQ who has established a collaborative venture with the Tablelands Regional Council and the Northern Gulf Resource Management Group to establish and operate a demonstration composting facility in Mareeba. This facility processes both municipal and agricultural waste to produce high-value biologically active compost providing a host of environmental, economic and social benefits.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (honours) and a PhD in mechatronics from the University of Adelaide.
